A common problem associated with high powered speakers is voice coil heat. One way of helping to cool the voice coil is to use ferro fluid in the gap. This allows the heat to travel from the coil into the adjacent magnet structure through an oil based liquid. This liquid is kept in place by nano sized ferrite magnets (hence the name ‘ferro fluid’) suspended in a high grade heat transfer oil.
As every speaker is different, so too are their ferro fluid requirements. Data on the amount and type of fluid for a particular driver can usually be found in our database. Call for more info.
Please note: Some ferro fluids are considered toxic and should be treated with absolute care and safety.
